We're the Chasnoffs - a family of six, including a dad, mom, twin 14-year-old girls, an 8-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. 

Dorit was born in Israel. Joel is from Chicago. Since 2001, we've been living in New York, where Joel made his living as a stand-up comedian and writer (joelchasnoff.com for more on that).

In October 2014 we purchased a one-way ticket to Peru, with the intention of traveling the world for a year. We ended our lease, sold our cars, held three very big garage sales, put boxes in storage and donated the rest to charity. On August 10, 2015, we departed for Lima.

Our blog is called OUR YEAR OF UN - as in un-tethering, un-binding, un-attaching ourselves from the expectations, values and assumptions that for so long have governed our lives.
